The Monastery is the spiritual successor to the original ranch house compound, whose stone ruins now lie beneath the waters of the Falcon International Reservoir. The black and white image is one of the last known photographs of the compound before it was submerged under the Falcon International Reservoir in 1953.

Now on higher ground, the Monastery anchors the new base camp and carries its legacy forward. It’s Great Hall, featuring 30-foot ceilings, is the focal point of all social life at Las Lajas Ranch. Challenge your friends to a round of dominoes, enjoy the stained glass windows depicting ranch scenes, or trade stories of your hunt over a cold drink at the end of an exciting day in the field.

Whether you’re here to hunt, explore, stargaze, or simply step off the grid for a while, our guest cabins and gathering spaces are designed for comfort without pretense—quietly refined, authentically Texas.

Each of our four guest cabins features a queen bed and futon on the main floor, two twin beds in the loft above, individual climate control, a small digital safe for personal effects, and a thoughtfully arranged en suite bathroom—with separate enclosures for the toilet and shower flanking a central vanity. Loft-level balconies on both the front and back of each cabin offer sweeping views of the landscape—perfect for watching the sunrise, the sunset, or the wildlife.

While the cabins do not have kitchens, a shared outdoor kitchen and dining area serves as the heart of the experience—perfect for coffee at dawn, al fresco suppers, barbecues, and long evenings spent trading stories by the fireplace. And when the weather calls for indoor comfort, gatherings move to the Monastery’s great hall, where a spacious kitchen and stately round table provide the perfect setting for meals and conversation.

Just breathing the crisp, clean air is enough to tap into a kind of freedom that needs no explanation.

All reservations at Las Lajas Ranch include chef-prepared meals, unless other arrangements are made ahead of time.
